Global Saskatoon: Shaping Saskatchewan – Laurie Bouvier

We are delighted to announce that Laurie Bouvier, Executive Director of the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan (AFCS), is featured in a recent segment of Global News’ “Shaping Saskatchewan”.

In the video, Laurie offers an insightful overview of the work of AFCS, and how our network of 11 friendship centres across Saskatchewan, from La Loche, Buffalo Narrows and Île-à-la-Crosse to La Ronge, Meadow Lake, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Regina and Fort Qu’Appelle, is deeply rooted in advocacy, connection and community support.

She speaks of the vital role these centres play through bridging services, amplifying Urban Indigenous voices, and offering welcoming spaces that reflect culture, resilience and unity. The feature highlights how AFCS fits within the broader national movement of Friendship Centres, over 150 across the Canada, that support Indigenous peoples in urban settings.

This recognition not only celebrates the leadership of Laurie Bouvier, but also honours the dedicated staff, volunteers and community members at each of Saskatchewan’s Friendship Centres who work tirelessly to make positive impact every day.

We invite you to watch the segment to learn more about our vision, values and work in Saskatchewan.
